大半はBug Net.png Bug Net系の道具を使うことでアイテムとして獲得できる。
売却が可能なので、序盤の資金源になる。
モンスターと同様に攻撃を当てると倒すことができる。ただしお金やアイテムは（ごく一部を除いて）落とさない。
Guide To Critter Companionship.png Guide To Critter Companionshipがインベントリにあると、こちらからの攻撃が当たらなくなる。

敵の出現率を操作するアイテムなどの影響を敵と同様に受けるが、なぜかNPCが近くにいる時の出現率減少の影響は受けないので、
特定の種類を集めたいなら出現する近辺にNPCを4人以上集めてからWater Candle.png Water Candleなどの出現率増加効果を発動させておくと集めやすい。
